Statement from UCC BC on Ukrainian Independence Day celebration in Vancouver

Dear Ukrainians in Vancouver,

On behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress in British Columbia I would like to thank everyone of you who came out to celebrate with us the Ukrainian Independence Day and the National Flag of Ukraine Day yesterday in the Stanley Park’s picturesque Third Beach. The event has once again turned out to be a major success and has grown in popularity judging by the number of attendees and the FaceBook photo posts.

We look forward to organizing many more of these in the future with your suggestions and support. We thank you for your support this year, including a total of almost $500 in donations. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress in BC will be donating the entire profits to Жовто-блакитна лінія життя via its volunteer, Natasha Jatskevich. We thank Natasha for her immense efforts to help us organize this event. We thank our community activists for their presentations – Nataly Malishev, Besaga Svitlana and Svitlana Kominko.

Lastly, this event would not be possible without the tireless work of Vitaliy Likar, Sashko Stavyschenskiy, Valery Shevchuk, and Elena Shevchuk, all of whom are members of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress BC Council. We thank Alex Luchin, Sofiya Pylypenko and Myroslav Petriw for their assistance and contributions.

See you next at Bria Blessing’s benefit concert this Wednesday, August 26, 2015!

Happy Ukrainian Independence Day!

Yaroslav Gavrylko President Ukrainian Canadian Congress, BC
