The 24th Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians is only two weeks away and organizers want you, the members of our community to know how you can participate in an opportunity that comes along only once every three years. First, we encourage members of our constituent organizations to attend as delegates. Contact your local executive to find out if you are eligible.
We also welcome non-delegate participants. Attend a joint church service (Moleben) on Sunday, which begins at 8AM in the ballroom of the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel, 901 Dixon Rd. A commemoration of the Holodomor on this the 80th anniversary will follow our prayer service.
There’s much more. The keynote event will be an appearance by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Saturday November 9th. Cocktails are at 6PM. Dinner with words from the Prime Minister will follow 7-9PM. Tickets are still available at $125.00 per person.
Earlier on Saturday you can take in all of that day’s speakers and panels. Congress sessions will feature insights from experts in their fields. We will address how best to promote Ukrainian culture, language and Holodomor awareness. After lunch we anticipate a lively discussion regarding the Canadian Museum of Human Rights. A day pass for Saturday includes a full hot breakfast, lunch and admission to all sessions until 4:30PM.
We are pleased to also confirm the participation of Hon. Jason Kenney- Canada’s Minister of Employment, Social Development and Multiculturalism, Canada’s Leader of the Official Opposition- Hon. Thomas Mulcair and the Leader of the Federal Liberal Party- Hon. Justin Trudeau. All will be at our opening on Friday. Reception at 6PM. Opening 7-8PM. Then the Ukrainian Dragons competition unfolds. Witness the awarding of up to $50,000 from leading Ukrainian entrepreneurs for the best project(s). All Friday night events can be attended for $50.00.
Earlier on Friday, the UCC will be attending to organizational matters. Members of the public can purchase a Friday day-pass for all sessions leading up to 4:30PM for $125. The day will begin with panels that include Canadian Ambassador of Religious Freedom Andrew Bennett, Rector of Kyiv Mohyla Academy Serhiy Kvit, Dr. Pavlo Khobzey and Daniel Bilak.
Please also note that only official delegates can vote on matters before the Triennial Congress. Delegate registration is still open for the November 8-10, 2013.
